Clovelly Seaweed Festival 2018

Seaweed, what a wonderful thing! I am extremely blessed to live so close to the sea and to have been asked back to the Clovelly Seaweed Festival last year. Clovelly itself is a traditional village frozen in time and is the perfect location to host such an affair. The weather was good and the line up spectacular! It was an honour to share the stage again with Emma Gunn from ‘Never Mind the Burdocks’ (https://nevermindtheburdocks.co.uk/) who gave an excellent talk to help you to ‘Know Your Seaweeds’. It was also a great pleasure to meet and hear a wonderful presentation on the ‘Benefits of Seaweed’ from Jeremy Stephens from the Seaweed Health Foundation (http://www.seaweedhealthfoundation.org.uk/) and nutritionist Susan Meggitt. As for me, I gave a demonstration of how to make a plant infused seaweed hair and body wash and give a brief overview of the health benefits of seaweed. Ideally, I’d supply a recipe and the process to make the gel here but I’m going to be posting the write up in due course via a very exciting avenue. Watch this space!

As always there was a wide range of activities, stalls and food available throughout the day with notable mentions for the AONB who entertained families with a host of coastal craft activities and enchanting music from local musician, Lara Conley (https://www.laraconley.co.uk/).

Thankfully, the seaweed festival is happening again in 2019 on Sunday 26th May (https://www.clovelly.co.uk/events/seaweed-festival/). I’ll give further updates as to the line ups closer to the time and hope to see you there!
